    Drug Side Effects, Can You Identify Them?

    With millions of prescriptions authored in the United States, alone, the potential for side effects from these drugs is enormous. In this article, we will explore the side effects of a lot of the the bulk popular prescription drugs and how they impact the lives of their users.

    The more drugs a patient has in their regimen, the more chances they will of have of drug inter-actions between the prescriptions. And these will manifest in a lot different forms of symptoms and outcomes.

    Each drug has it's own unique set of negative outcomes from usage, either properly or improperly.

    Lexapro, an antidepressant, for example, can have a lot side effects. Some which may include: dry mouth, headache, nausea and insomnia, to mention a few. This is not to say that everyone will experience these, but one should be concious of potential problems.

    Another in favor drug, Lipitor, has it's own side effects as well. Lipitor is a antilipidemic agent. This means that is a drug that has the purpose of decreasing the cholesterol levels in humans. It is considered in the class of statin drugs. Although a lot suffer no side effects, there are some that you should be concious of. These include: nausea, chest pain, insomnia and arthritis, to name a few of drug side effects identified.

    Zoloft, a very in favor antidepressant, is a serotonin reuptake inhibitor. It has been reported to have the following drug side effects: dry mouth, dizziness, headache, and diarrhea. And it has to be said that amazing care must be exercised when administering this medication to adolescents and adults, alike. It has been noted that patients under Zoloft therapy can have a greater occurence of suicidal behavior and close monitoring for worsening of symptoms is vital in the care of
    these patients. This is true for the bulk of the antidepressants.

    Prednisone, which is used to decrease inflammation, is a steroid. It is used for treatment of arthritis. It is not free from drug side effects. Briefly, some of them are: muscular weakness, sodium retention, peptic ulcers, and increased intracranial pressure, to name a few.

    Amoxicillin, the broad-spectrum antibiotic, is used to treat infections. These infections are usually are usually of the skin, ears, nose and throat. It can also be used for treatment of the urinary tract system as well as for treating peptic ulcers. The underlying principle to proper treatment with Amoxicillin, is that it indicated only for b-lactamase-negative organisms.

    Overuse of this antibiotic, makes it vital not to "overprescribe it". As it's not effective for viral infections and the over-prescribing of antibiotics, does lead to drug-resistance strains of disease. This antibiotic also has drug side effects. It is well-known that if you have had a previous reaction to other penicillins, then you should avoid taking this medication.

    Briefly, those drug side effects are identified as: nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Also, rashes have been reported as well. Anemia and agitation are other side effects that one can obtain from the use of Amoxicillin.

    If you or your loved-one experiences any of these side effects, it's vital that you contact your MD and or 911(some side effects are life-threatening), immediately.
